Boyd James Baker, age 67, of Westminster, Maryland, died on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Carroll Hospital Center following a battle with cancer.
Born May 31, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Walter R. and Mabel V. (Chumley) Baker. He was the husband of Joyce Larue (Hagan) Baker, his wife of 27 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in road construction with A. G. Parrott Construction in Sykesville, and later as a HVAC technician with Tevis Oil in Westminster. He was a former member of the American Legion, and loved watching birds, horses, NASCAR, and tending to his fish pond.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Monica J. O’Donnell and husband Patrick of Westminster, Christina M. Mann and companion Byron Haschert of Gettysburg, PA, Michael B. Baker and wife Noelle of Hanover, PA, Dawn L. Marcus and husband Jeffrey of Union Mills, Dean C. Stickles, Jr. of Westminster, Cheryl L. Pickett and husband Brian of Taneytown, and Regina M. Colson and husband George of Taneytown; siblings, Glenn Baker and wife Beverly of Catonsville, Jeannie Tamburrino and husband Al of Spring Hill, FL, Patty Paticer-Tschudy of New Park, PA, and Raymond Baker of Spring Hill, FL. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, James R. Baker and by a brother, Bobby Baker.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of a Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD, with funeral celebrant John C. Morrill officiating. Burial will follow at a later date with military honors in Garrison Forest Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the University of MD Greenebaum Cancer Center, 22 S. Greene St., Baltimore, MD 21201 or William E.
