William Francis “Bill” McClelland II passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. Born November 11, 1959 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William and Ella (Hesse) McClelland. He was the devoted husband of Laura (Staggs) McClelland, to whom he was married for 31 years.
Bill was a graduate of the College of New Jersey, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, and Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was Principle Electrical Design Engineer with AAI Corporation-Textron Systems for 30 years, and RF Engineer V at iRF Solutions in Sparks, MD since May, 2014. Bill was a member of the Association of Old Crows and was an IEEE senior member. He received various industry awards, was awarded a patent for an invention in 2009, and had a technical article published in 2008. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Westminster, where he served as facilities co-chair for several years. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, gardening, and spending time with family and friends, as well as his furry friend, McDuff. Bill was a Civil War buff who enjoyed visiting and studying Civil War sites. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Laura, are his mother-in-law Waltraut Staggs, brother-in-law Jeff Staggs and wife Theresa; his cherished godchildren, Erin Weber, Brad Weber, Paije Koller and husband Aran, Mitch Martin, and Katie Martin; and many supportive cousins.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 29th, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30th at Deer Park United Methodist Cemetery. A celebration of Bill’s life will follow the burial at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 17 Bond St., Westminster, MD 21157, with the Rev. Dr. Marty Kuchma officiating.
