Betty J. Weatherly, 88, of Fairfield, PA, died peacefully Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at St. Catherine’s Nursing Center in Emmitsburg. Born May 18, 1926 in Emmitsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Ida (Miller) Ott. She was the wife of the late John C. Weatherly, who died in February 2014, and to whom she was married for 65 years.
Betty was previously employed in Food Service at Mount St. Mary’s University. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield and the Emmitsburg VFW Post 6658 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bingo, watching game shows, collecting rooster and hen figurines, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Donald Weatherly and wife, Lillie, of Gettysburg, PA, David Weatherly and wife, Bonnie, of Fairfield, PA, and Bruce Weatherly and wife, Mary Anne, of Fairfield, PA; son-in-law, Clarence Ohler and wife, Bonnie, of Fairfield, PA; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Linda Ohler, brothers, Charles, Lawrence, and Jack Ott, and sisters, Elizabeth Andrew, Mary Sutton, Frances Matthews and Doris Asper.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Road, Fairfield, PA with the Rev. Michael A. Messaro, MSSCC as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the mass on Saturday.
