Betty Ann Maxine Shriner, age 64, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at her home. Born June 3, 1949 in Thurmont, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Donald William and Betty Elizabeth (Ridenour) Sweeney.
Maxine was currently employed at Frederick Memorial Hospital as a EHS Assistant for the past 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Emmitsburg and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Vigilant Hose Fire Co. in Emmitsburg. She loved music, taking care of her property and outdoor work. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She and her sister Lisa were not just sisters they were best friends that spent a lot of time together.
Surviving are son, James “Jimmy” Shriner, Jr. and wife Shirley of Mt. Alto, PA; daughter, Tammy Shriner of Emmitsburg; brothers, Donald and Jackie Sweeney both of Emmitsburg; sister, Alicia Wood and companion Dale LaMendola of Emmitsburg; sister-in-law, Julie Sweeney of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Ashley Kaleo and Sierra Shriner; great-grandchildren, Mykenzie and Shay Kaleo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Albert and Ronald Sweeney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 44 DePaul St., Emmitsburg with Rev. John J. Holliday, C.M. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the New St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, where a Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 p.m.
