Betty Irene Runkles, age 77, of Taneytown, Maryland died peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2009 surrounded by her family at her home.
Born November 6, 1932 in Unionville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Viola Long. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Gilbert Runkles, Sr. in 1995.
Betty was an avid Raven Fan, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Charles Long and wife Melody of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Thomas Long and special significant other Tara Verity of Taneytown, Nellie Runkles of Cascade, MD, Roy Runkles, Jr., of Taneytown, and Mahala Runkles of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, Jeremy McQueen, Cheryl Pitt, Kristopher McQueen, Natalie Little, Jesse McQueen, Brandon Long, Clinton Long, Hope Lansford, Pamala Robertson, Lisa Etzler, Jasmine Ventura, Raven Bennett, Joshua Runkles; great-grandchildren, Alex, Erin, Fox, Bram, Ryan, Ryleigh, Seth, Dalton, Blaine, Allison, Courtney, Bailee, Madison, Alexis, Juliet, Trenten, and special adopted grandchildren, Morgan and Mason.
A Celebration of her Life and Memorial Service will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the American Legion Hesson Snider Post Hall, 9 Broad St., Taneytown, Maryland, with Rev. Anne C. Durboraw officiating. Private inurnment will take place in Linganore U. M. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the hall.
