Betty Ohler, 88, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Brightview Westminster Ridge in Westminster, MD. Born March 27, 1932 in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Brown) Ohler.
Betty was a secretary for the University of Maryland’s Dean of Agriculture for more than 40 years. She loved going to the beach and collecting shells, and enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews. She loved UMD basketball and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. Betty was very skilled at knitting and enjoyed antiques.
Surviving are brother, Larry Ohler and wife Bonnie of Ellicott City; sister-in-law, Jenny Ohler of Westminster; nieces and nephews, Tracy Payne, Carla McCarron, and Shawn, Craig and Clinton Ohler; great-nieces and nephews, Jessica Thomas, Dustin Bauerlien, Rebecca Pawlenka, Barbara Markey, Sammi Olander, James L. McCarron IV, Delaney McCarron, Sydney McCarron and Dalton Payne; and great-great nieces and nephews, Luella, Rosalie, and Anja Thomas, and Hugh James Olander. She was predeceased by sisters, Carmen Ohler and Linda Bauerlien; brothers, Eugene and Carl Ohler; and nephew, Junior Bauerlien.
In accordance with Betty’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Agricultural Development Scholarship Endowment Fund, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Maryland, Symons Hall, College Park, MD 20742; OR to a charity of one’s choice.
