Betty Jane Fream Naylor, 85, of Taneytown, MD, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born July 10, 1930 in Taneytown, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Muriel (Wantz) Fream. She was the wife of George Naylor, to whom she was married for 65 years.
After graduating from Taneytown High School, her first job was with Borenstein Sewing Factory in Taneytown. She left to raise her family and later returned to work for Random House Publishing in Westminster, where she retired after 21 years. She was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, where she sang in the choir for many years. In her younger years, she taught Sunday School, served on committees, and also served as a camp counselor at Mar-Lu Ridge. Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing, and singing. She began singing and performing at age 4 with her sister Maxine at local community events. As an adult she and her husband, George often sang in a quartet with Maxine and her husband Herb. Her greatest loves in life were her family and her faith.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter, Rhonda Danner of Taneytown; son, Sidney Naylor and wife Debbie of Madison, TN; sister, Maxine Bowers of Hanover, PA; brothers, George Fream and wife Loreina of Hanover, PA, Jim Fream and wife Sharon of Glen Burnie, Charles Fream and wife Juanita of Taneytown, John Fream and wife Virginia of Dillsburg, PA, Robert Fream and wife Connie of Thurmont, and Glenn Fream of Taneytown; grandchildren, Wade Danner and wife Kristin of New Market, Holly Danner of Washington, D.C., Casey Naylor of Greenbrier, TN, and Luke Naylor and wife Mandi of Murfreesboro, TN; great-grandchildren, Carter, Miles, and Roxanne; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Elwood Fream, and a sister, Marie Smith.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Pastor Stacy Marsh officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.
