Betty Sue Leister, 77, of Gettysburg, PA, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at York Wellspan Hospital in York, PA. Born October 17, 1938 in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Glass and the late Margie (Bell) Glass VanFossen. She was the wife of the late Richard Leister, Sr.
Betty was a seamstress. She worked at various shoe companies in the area, the Taneytown Rubber Company, and along with her daughter, was co-owner of Cinderella’s Image in Hanover, PA for several years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, arranging flowers, collecting Denim Days figurines, and most of all, spending time with her family. Betty was known for her delicious banana pudding, and was a long-time member of the Hanover Chapter of Red Hats.
Surviving are daughter, Teresa Spurlin and husband Robert of Hanover, PA; sons, Gary Rosenberry and wife Diane of Littlestown, PA, and Rich Leister of Gettysburg, PA; sisters, Lee Rice of FL, Charlene Blacksten and husband Richard of Union Bridge, and Patty Wastler of Taneytown; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Nadine “Liz” Cooke and Audrey Warner; brother, Elmer Baumgardner; and her first husband, Raymond Rosenberry.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with Pastor Samuel Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
