Betty Delores Hyser

Betty Delores Hyser, age 87, of Gettysburg, PA, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Gettysburg Center. Born April 4, 1935 in LeGore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Robert William and Mary Rebecca Fogle.

Betty was the devoted wife to Fred Leroy Hyser, Sr., her husband of 55 years, who died in January 2012. She worked for Penguin Random House, in Westminster, MD for many years. After retiring from Random House, she worked as a caretaker and tour guide at the Eisenhower National Historic Site in Gettysburg. She made the best sugar cookies at Christmas, she loved country music and taking Sunday drives.

Betty is survived by her son, Fred Hyser, Jr., of Chambersburg, PA, daughter-in-law, Pamela Hyser, and granddaughter, Sarah Hyser-Staub, both of Harrisburg, PA.

Besides her husband Fred, she was predeceased by her son, Michael and daughter, Rhonda Hyser.

A graveside service will be private, with Rev. Paul Matthews III officiating.
