Bernard Lee “Bernie” Hagerty, 57, of Fairmont, WV died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born August 23, 1956 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Higgins Hagerty, Sr.
Bernie worked at a variety of jobs over the years. Some of that time was spent in governmental agencies. He was very civic-minded and had served as a volunteer firefighter in Lansdowne, MD.
Surviving are brothers, James Hagerty and Michael Higgins of Westminster; sister, Regina Higgins of Perryville, MD; and aunt, Doris Anderson of Westminster. He was predeceased by brother, Thomas Hagerty, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD with Monsignor Martin E. Feild officiating . Interment will be private.
