Barbara Ann Smith, age 67, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Brinton Woods Health Care Center in Sykesville.
Born October 18, 1946 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Howard L. Nash, Sr. and Sophia Anna Louise (Boblitz) Nash.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Elwood Smith.
Barbara was retired as a special education teachers aide for the Carroll County Public School system for the past 25 years at Carroll Springs School. She was an avid reader, loved bird watching, and spending time with her family. She was a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the Cockeysville Vol. Fire Dept.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Robert A. Smith, Valerie D. Samoya, and Charles L. Smith and wife Lura all of Westminster; grandchildren, Joshua C. Smith, Norberto “Bert” E. Samoya, Britney L. Campbell, Joshua L. Campbell, and Alexandra “Lexie” L. Eckard; great-grandchildren, Lily, Sebastian, and Ayden Baumgardner; also many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 27 at Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Department, 11210 York Rd, Cockeysville, MD. Private burial will be in Poplar Grove U.M. Cemetery in Phoenix, Md.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Tribute Giving, 8400 Silver Crossing Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73132. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
