Barbara Jean (Bennett) Reeves

Barbara Jean Reeves, 84, of New Market, MD, passed away March 11, 2024. Born on June 27, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Bennett and Katherine Gotwals Bennett.

Barbara previously lived in Florida and Georgia before moving to Maryland in 2010. She worked as an operator back in the days of the telephone switchboard, and later she was a live-in nanny and worked in early child care. Through this work, she touched the lives of many families.

Barbara was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren and continued to donate to Fairburn United Methodist Church in Georgia. She enjoyed British TV shows, crossword puzzles, playing Uno with her best friend Marge, and doing her daily devotions. She also loved eating at restaurants, dancing and singing, sending and receiving greeting cards, drawing pictures, laughing, and telling stories.

Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter, Lisa May Bennett, and her son-in-law, Geoffrey Mueller. She will be dearly missed by her extended family, many of whom she enjoyed living with throughout the years, as well as her feline roommate, Gretchen. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her big brothers, Robert Bennett and Bruce Bennett.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., Taneytown, MD.
