Barbara Jean McLeod, 74, of New Windsor, MD, died peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born on September 20, 1943 in Swickley, PA she was the daughter of the late Kenneth L. and Dorothy (Winkler) Rankin. She was the wife of 35 years to Willard “Bill” Lee McLeod.
Barbara was retired in 1994 after working for over 15 years as a L.P.N. with the Little Sisters of the Poor. She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Chapel in Westminster, and volunteered with the Carroll Hospital Center. She enjoyed the ocean, ballroom dancing and traveling. She was an accomplished painter in watercolors, acrylics and oil.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Laura Staley and husband Sean of Westminster, Rebecca Stoner and husband Jeffrey of Hampstead, and W. Karl Renner and wife Liza of Great Falls, VA.; step-children, David Stendahl of Southberry, CT, Jason McLeod of Austin, TX, and Laurie McLeod of St. Thomas, V.I.; sisters, Phyllis Hann and husband Stanley of Munhall, PA, and Deborah Verna and husband Richard of West Mifflin, PA; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth L. Rankin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Chapel, 20 Bell Rd., Westminster with Pastor Ralf Nies officiating. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
