Barbara Jean (Sipes) Gately

On February 12, 2023 Barbara Jean (Sipes) Gately passed into the Lord’s care. She was happily married to Thomas J Gately Jr. for 59 years. She was born in Baltimore Maryland on January 25, 1944 to Harry & Minnie Sipes. She was a longstanding member of the Keysville-Detour Homemakers Club. She was an avid collector of antiques, particularly primitive antiques and was the owner of Grandy’s Antiques.

Barb loved the beach and Ocean City was her favorite vacation spot. She liked to stand on the balcony in the morning and watch the sun come up over the ocean.

She was a very dedicated Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and loved her family particularly family gatherings.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Bright of Maryland and two sons: James Gately and wife Laura of Pennsylvania and TJ Gately and wife Tanya of Colorado.

Also surviving are granddaughters Kaitlin Gately and Landyn Hill, grandson Tucker Gately, great-granddaughter Trinity Gately and great-grandsons Riley and Julian McCachren, along with her three brothers. Thomas Sipes, Michael Sipes and Harry Sipes.

Additional close family members are three sisters-in-law, Cindi Mitchell, Mary Martin and Betty Thomas

She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her daughter Kelly Gately, grandson Shea Gately, her parents and sisters CarolAnn Snader and Mary Adams.

Funeral services will be private; however, a Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held at a later date.
