Barbara Anne Haines Caples, age 74, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born August 26, 1938 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Ruth (Everhart) Haines. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gordon M. Caples.
Barbara was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1956. She worked for the Rosewood Center for over 30 years retiring in 1996. She then worked part-time for Dutterer’s Florist Shop in Westminster; and volunteered at the Carroll Hospital Center. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Snydersburg, and served as financial secretary. She enjoyed attending sporting events and horse show competitions participated in by her children. She was an avid Ravens fan, enjoyed Caribbean cruises, bus trips, and loved watching and feeding birds.
Surviving in addition to her husband and daughter, Kim Arbaugh and husband Bob of New Windsor; son Jeffrey Caples and wife Kelly of Hampstead; brother, Richard Haines of Westminster; grandchildren, Darrin Arbaugh, Kristin Athey and husband Tyler, Jacob and Benjamin Caples; niece, Stacy Bowman; and several other nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, Maryland with Rev. Michael Adams officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
