Audrey Adrian Byrd

Audrey Adrian Byrd, nee Yingling, 79, of Westminster passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Dove House, Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  Born August 21, 1944 in Carrollton, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Theodore Yingling and Mildred Adrian Viola Yingling, nee Dull.  She was the beloved mother of Dana W. Byrd and his wife Sandy of Apopka, FL; cherished friend of Dale H. Miller; loving grandmother of Sydney Byrd and Jarod Bjork; devoted sister of V. Kenneth “Sonny” Yingling and his wife Signa of Hampton, GA; and is also survived by her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings E. Eugene “Bud” Yingling and his wife Eleanor, Louise Wisner and her husband James, Carroll Yingling and Betty Keeney.

Audrey was a registered nurse for 28 years at the Carroll Lutheran Village where she retired in 2009. Over the years she was very involved in Boy Scouting with her son Dana, where she earned the Award of Merit in Scouting and was the Unit Commissioner for Carroll County.  In her early days, she worked for 16 years at the Westminster Knit, and for many years volunteered at the Sunflower Hill Assisted Living and the Bridging Life, formerly Carroll Hospice, Dove House.  She was a devoted member of St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church where she held numerous positions in the church ranging from Sunday School Superintendent, President of Sunshine Circle, AKA WELCA, Sunday School Teacher, Nursery Teacher, Church Council where she held 2 terms, and directed the Vacation Bible School.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster (21157) on Friday May 3rd, 2024 and from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday May 4th, 2024 at the St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church, 827 Leisters Church Road, Westminster (21157) where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with her pastor the Rev. Christopher S. Litton will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be offered in Ms. Audrey Byrd’s name to Bridging Life Hospice, Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church, 827 Leisters Church Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
