Arthur William Garvin, Jr.

Arthur William Garvin Jr., 90, of Westminster, MD, passed away November 3, 2024, at Copper Ridge Nursing & Assisted Living Center in Sykesville. Born January 6, 1934, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Rev. Arthur William Garvin Sr., and Mabel Rosalie Snyder Garvin. He was a devoted husband to the late Gloria Kunz Garvin.

Arthur was a member of Church of the Open Door, where he was active in the Kings Messenger Sunday School Class, and the Soul Winners program. He enjoyed classic automobiles, particularly Studebakers, traveling and spending time at his river house near Harpers Ferry WV. 

Surviving are children; Angela Garvin, Joseph Sullivan, and Kelly Nickey; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Maxine Fritz and Roberta Beerhorst; friend, Nancy; and multiple nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by son; Gregory Garvin and brother; Rev. Roland Garvin.

 A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster with Rev. Brian Jung officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster and Saturday 10:00 am until time of service at the church.
