Anthony “Tony” Giordano

Anthony “Tony” Giordano, 76, of Taneytown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024 with his wife Catherine Ann Giordano by his side, in Gettysburg Hospital, Pennsylvania. Born on November 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Salvatore Gabriel and Annie Lorraine Giordano [nee Huffman].

He is survived by four children Brian, Martin, Vincent and Christina Giordano, and three step-children, Jamie and Erin Fontaine and Lauren Rosenheim and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Marie [nee Giordano] Juneau, Paul Giordano, David Giordano and Laura [nee Giordano] Benham, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tony was a graduate of Overlea High School, class of 1965 and attended Essex Community College. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. His career spanned several decades in sales and he was also an EMT with Middle River Fire and Rescue. Prior to his retirement, he was president of SCF Electronics, established in 2015.

Tony was an avid baseball fan – especially for his beloved Baltimore Orioles – and played baseball for many years as a member of JSB Baseball. The ball club was a major part of his life and he traveled with teammates up and down on the east coast from Cooperstown, New York to Vero Beach and Bradenton, Florida.

Tony will be remembered for his generosity and kindness with family, friends and even strangers, frequently paying for groceries for the next person in line if he thought they might need a little extra help. He was always thinking about what he could do for others. He owned a small horse farm with his wife and though he had never been around horses prior to their marriage, he loved them dearly and could be heard in the barn telling all of them how pretty or handsome they were, with his hands full of treats.

After having colon cancer in 2023, Tony became a strong advocate for colon cancer screening. He was in the process of setting up a new service mission with his baseball family to help promote health screening to adults through sports. A memorial fund has been established in his honor to carry on this work by Technology 4 Causes, a 501(c)3 non-profit.
