Anna Marie Seiss

February 12, 1924 — May 21, 2013

Anna Marie Seiss, 89, of Rocky Ridge died peacefully at her home Tuesday, May 21, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born February 12, 1924 in Woodsboro, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaretta Creager Bollinger. She was the wife of the late Leo R. Seiss, her husband of more than 50 years.



Anna was a hard-working farmer’s wife and homemaker. She was also a contract bus driver for Frederick County Public Schools for 22 years. She was a member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg. She enjoyed gardening, canning, raising farm animals, going for rides in the car, attending horse races, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers. She was said to have a heart of gold and was a good mother to her children.



Surviving are daughters, Carolyn Wastler and husband Wayne of Thurmont, and Connie Hahn and husband Jim of Taneytown; sons, James Seiss and wife Lora of Jefferson, and Gary Seiss and wife Donna of Thurmont; sister, Thelma Miller and husband Waldon of Caledonia, MI; grandchildren, David Wastler of Thurmont, Karen Willard and husband Randy of Sabillasville, Georgia Lescalleet and friend Ken Shoemaker of Emmitsburg, Jason Hahn and wife Shelley of Taneytown, Angie Defrates and husband Carlo of Hickory, NC, Jessica Seiss of Jefferson, and Renee Lawyer and husband Brent of Cascade; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Walter, Guy, and Henry Bollinger, and sisters, Lucy Davis and Mary Dinterman. Special thanks go out to Dr. Alan Carroll and staff, devoted granddaughter, Georgia Lescalleet, the staff of Hospice of Frederick County, and special caregivers, Theresa Wagerman and Alicia Hill.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Jon R. Greenstone, pastor of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Creagerstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
