Anna Elizabeth Petry, age 91, of Westminster, Maryland, died on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born April 30, 1919 near Pleasant Valley, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Carrie (Brown) Kauffman. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Joseph Petry, Jr. in 1979.
Anna was a 1936 graduate of Charles Carroll High School in Silver Run, and worked alongside her husband for many years at the family dairy farm. She was a very active member of the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 4-H leader, and Carroll County Farm Bureau Member. Anna enjoyed painting ceramics, quilting, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters, Elinor M. Click and husband James of Westminster, Dorothy P. Bryant of Westminster; grandchildren, Floyd L. Click and wife Dru Ann, Gail Heartley and husband Glenn, Elizabeth Gassman and husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Drew and Jeremy Heartley, Sarah, Madeline, and Alexander Gassman.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Bryant and son-in-law, Arnold E. Bryant.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster and on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM at the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren in Westminster with the Rev. Jake Butler and Rev. Amy Bell co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadow Branch Cemetery.
