Anita B. Pitsenbarger, 93, of Frederick, died peacefully Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Sunrise of Frederick Assisted Living in Frederick, Maryland. Born October 13, 1921 in Windell, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ruffin and Zetti Owens Biggs. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Dale Pitsenbarger. He died in 1987.
Anita worked for twenty years as a Grants Management Specialist for the United States Government’s National Institute of Health. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. Andrew in Silver Spring where she enjoyed working in the church’s thrift shop. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters, Robin Rastello and husband Joel of Calumet, MI, and Tina Woodward of Fairfield, PA; grandchildren, Tracy Woodward and husband Patrick Carvalho of Fairfield, PA, Michael Woodward of Fairfield, PA, and Jessica Rastello of Calumet, MI; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, and Aidan Carvalho; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Ruth Burch, and brothers, Arthur and Wilbur Biggs.
A private graveside service will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg.
