Angela Louise Gerald, nee Fuchs, 83, of Taneytown, MD, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead, MD. Born June 13, 1937 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Martin Fuchs and Grace Virginia Fuchs, nee Hoggson; and beloved wife of the late Joseph Maurice Gerald, her loving husband of 60 years.

Angela (Angie) was a graduate of Bon Secour Nursing Program, class of 1959 and Seton High School, class of 1955. Angie completed her primary education at All Saints Elementary School.

Angie began her nursing career at the University of Maryland Hospital as an operating room nurse. After taking a short break to begin her family with Joseph and their 4 children, she returned to U of MD to continue her 25 + years as a dedicated operating room nurse, working in Cardiology, Plastic Surgery, Shock Trauma and eventually becoming the Charge Nurse of the Operating Room Department. She was grateful for all the wonderful people she met and worked with in her time at U of MD and the opportunities to participate in surgeries that made a difference in many peoples’ lives.

Her faith was a very important part of her life and spent many happy hours attending and volunteering at St. Joseph’s of Taneytown, MD, St. Charles Borromeo in Pikesville, MD, and All Saints Church in Baltimore, MD. Her volunteer work included PE teacher, Girl Scout Leader, Sodality and the Church Bazaar at St. Charles, and Eucharistic Minister and St. Vincent de Paul at St. Joseph’s in Taneytown and many more.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, painting, knitting, sewing and reading, but especially loved her shopping trips with her children, grandchildren and her sisters, Pasty and Betty.

After retirement, she enjoyed staying in touch with her many groups of friends, spending time with her growing family and working side by side with Joe on the beloved family farm.

She was the devoted mother of Terry (Mary T.) McKim and her husband, John of Hanover, PA, Brian Douglas Gerald and his wife Terry Joyce-Gerald of Catonsville, MD, Sheila A. Jones and her husband, Jeff of Talent, OR, and William (Bill) and his wife Stacey of Hanover, PA; loving grandmother of Patrick McKim, Jordan Gerald and his with Becca,  Brittany Smith, nee McKim, and her husband Cody, Madalyn Gerald, Marley Jones, Conner Gerald, Korbin Jones and Samantha Gerald; cherished great grandmother of Chase Gerald, Gavin Smith, Benjamin Gerald and Norah Smith. Angie is also survived by her loving sisters, Patsy Karey and her husband Joseph and Elizabeth “Betty” Mace and her husband Joseph, all of Towson, MD. She is also survived by her in-laws, Robert Gerald, Ellen Sommers, Francis Cash, Nancy Perez and her husband Joseph and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family 2-4 and 6-8 pm., Monday, May 24, 2021 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, PA., 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD, 21787 with the celebration of Mass of Christian Burial, 11 am., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick Street, Taneytown, MD, 21787 with Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
