Alyssa Taylor Bowen

March 19, 1996 — December 19, 2016

On December 19, 2016, our sweet daughter Alyssa Taylor Bowen entered into the arms of Jesus.  Born March 19, 1996 in Baltimore, Maryland, Alyssa is survived by her loving parents Craig and Jennifer Bowen, three siblings, Craig Bowen Jr and wife Megan, Kyrstin Bowen, and Julia Bowen.  Also surviving are maternal grandparents Fred and Jane Stewart, paternal grandparents Norval and Joyce Bowen, paternal great-grandmother Lorraine Bowen and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

After graduation from Mount Airy Christian Academy, Alyssa attended Lancaster Bible College where she majored in counseling.  Alyssa was also a key force for the LBC Chargers Volleyball Program, where she earned multiple honors, including first team All Mideast Region for the 2016 season.  With her passion for sports and strong athletic ability, Alyssa also received recognition for her achievements during her volleyball and basketball careers at Carroll Christian School and Mount Airy Christian Academy.

Alyssa enjoyed fishing, particularly at the pond near her home in Carroll County, MD, as well as spending time with family, friends, and boyfriend, Nate Burns.  She was known for her gentle spirit, her radiant smile, beautiful green eyes, but most of all her love for her Savior.  Her joyful countenance and encouraging heart have been a testimony to all who have had the privilege of knowing her.  She is deeply loved and will always be remembered in our hearts.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Uniontown Bible Church, 4280 Watson Lane, Union Bridge, MD (www.utown.org).  The family will receive friends at a viewing from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Airy Christian Academy for the newly created Alyssa Bowen Memorial Fund.  You may give online at www.macamd.org or by mailing to 16700 Old Frederick Rd., Mount Airy, MD  21771.
