Alvin "A.J." Irvin, Jr

Alvin “A.J.” Irvin, Jr., age 86, of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born November 17, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alvin “Pap” and Alma (Keller) Irvin, Sr. He was predeceased by his wife Gloria Mullinix Irvin in 2007.
A.J. was a life long dairy farmer from 1949 until retiring in 1978; and owned and operated one of the first dairy milking parlors in Carroll County on his families farm of 600 + acres off Trevanion Road near Taneytown. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He was a past member of the Westminster Moose Lodge, the Westminster Elks, and the Littlestown Eagles.
Surviving are children, Jay Irvin of Taneytown, Dale Irvin and wife Cindy of Littlestown; grandchildren, Sarah Sentz and Joshua Irvin; brother, Charles Robert Irvin of Taneytown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 East Baltimore St., Taneytown with Pastor David Woodruff officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
