Alma Smolin Morrill

March 8, 1921 — July 2, 2015

Alma Smolin Morrill, age 94, resident of the Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center.
Born March 8, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late August and Katherine (Weber) Smolin.  She was predeceased by her husband, John Charles Morrill in October, 1997.
Alma was a graduate of Girls Commercial High School in 1939 and worked as a bookkeeper and accountant in the office of Elliott Business Machines.  She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and baking.  She was an avid reader, loved watching Turner classic movies, and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and 40’s era Big Band music.  Mrs. Morrill was a life-long Lutheran and most recently attended worship and assisted in the Krug Chapel at the Village.
Surviving are son, John C. Morrill and wife Patricia of Gettysburg, PA; daughter, Karen A. Morrill and husband Doyle Niemann of Mt. Rainier, MD; grandchildren, Christopher Morrill,  Cassi Niemann, Jason Morrill, Shea Niemann, Beth Lilley, Travis Niemann, and Julia Fajardo; great-grandchildren, Tehya, Jaylyn, Wyatt, Owen, Logan, and Landon.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Carolyn Hansen.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD, with the Rev. David S. Schafer officiating.  Cremation will follow and burial will be private.
