Alice Regina Thomas, 96, of Emmitsburg, MD, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA. Born February 19, 1919 in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Esther (Pecher) Stouter. She was the wife of the late Randolph Clark Thomas, to whom she was married for 49 years. He passed away in 1991.
Alice was a graduate of Emmitsburg High School, class of 1937, and St. Agnes Hospital’s School of Nursing, class of 1940. She loved her work as a labor and delivery nurse. In 1972, Alice and her husband retired and relocated, moving from Ellicott City, MD to Apache Junction, AZ. They enjoyed many travel adventures together. In 2000, she returned to live in Emmitsburg, entering St. Catherine Nursing Center in 2013.
Surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Pauline Sprankle, Eva Hobbs, Joanna Eyler, and Dorothy Kelly, and brother Lawrence Stouter.
A Memorial Mass, with the Rev. Lawrence Donohoo as celebrant, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at St. Anthony Shrine Parish, 16150 St. Anthony Rd., Emmitsburg, MD. Inurnment will be at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler, AZ at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Shrine Parish, 16150 St. Anthony Rd., Emmitsburg, MD, 21727. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg.
