Alice Virginia Rose Smith, age 84 of Finksburg, formerly of Baltimore, died Friday, October 31, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Westminster. She was born August 27, 1924 in Flat Top, West Virginia the daughter of the late Richard H. and Nora E. Moye Rose. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Smith. She was a former member of the American Legion Chapter 195 in Landsdowne and Women of the Moose #1176 in Glen Burnie. She had worked as a decorator for a glass company.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws, Darlene and Robert Hayes of Finksburg and Linda and Tom Brooks, Jr. of Bradenton, Florida; brothers Richard J. Rose of Ohio and Joseph P. Rose of Maryland; also survived by grandchildren and spouses, Robert Jr. and Lissa Hayes of Harpers Ferry, W. VA, Angelique and Stephen Merkson of Gettysburg, Pa, Henry III and Amy Brooks of Tampa, Fla, Lisa and Brian Chilcoat of Littlestown, PA and Sgt. Charles Brooks of St. Petersburg, Fla; also 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
She was predeceased by her brother James Rose.
A funeral will be held 1:00 pm Monday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Lucy Brady officiating.
Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home
