Alice Kushner

Alice Klinger Kushner, age 90, of Westminster, died peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Bethania Home Care Assisted Living in Westminster.  Born October 7, 1931 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Raymond P. Klinger, Sr. and the late Winifred (Slocum) Klinger.  She was the wife of the late Francis J. “Frank” Kushner, to whom she was married for 48 years.  He passed in 2009.  Alice is survived by daughter, Emily K. Halac (John) of San Diego, CA, son, Ethan E. Kushner (Hillary) of Taos, NM, and sister, Ann K. Henry of Westminster, MD.  She was predeceased by brothers, Dr. Raymond P. Klinger, Jr. and Earl C. Klinger.

Alice was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of ’48, and Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, class of ’52.  Her career was in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Textile Institute and the University of Pennsylvania Rehabilitation Center as an administrative assistant and technical editor.  She returned to Westminster in 1965, and was a homemaker while her children were growing up, participating in volunteer work at schools, church, and in the community.  From 1988-1997 she worked as an Information Assistant at all branches of the Carroll County Public Library.  She was a longtime member of the Westminster United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, church librarian, newsletter assistant, and circle member.  She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, knitting and crocheting, classical music, and travel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 3 pm, at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E Main St, Westminster, MD 21157.  Service will be live streamed, and a link is available through the church website.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 East Main St., Westminster, MD 21157.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
