Alice M. Groft

Alice May Groft, age 94 of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.
Born March 21, 1915 in Hampstead, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Dessie M. (Brummel) Ebaugh. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Levine Groft in 1943.
Alice worked for most of her adult life, 32 years at the Westminster Knit retiring in 1982, Westminster Coat Factory, and later Black and Decker Corp. She was a member of the Church of God in Westminster, Pleasant Valley Homemakers, Women of the Moose Lodge # 897 Westminster, and Senior Member of the Moose.
Surviving are children and spouses, Doris Louise Bynaker and husband Calvin of Westminster, Marie Arlene Will and husband Edward of McHenry, Maryland, Shirley May Lafferty and husband Donald of Hope Mills, NC, Donald Joseph Groft of Westminster, and Billy Eugene Groft of New Windsor; sister Ada Ruth Mancha of Manchester; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; devoted friend, Pauline Topper of Taneytown; several nieces, nephews, and many devoted friends.
She was predeceased by a son, George Clayton Groft in 2002, and by a sister, Marianna Steger, and brother Emory Joseph Ebaugh.
Private inurnment will be in the Westminster Cemetery.
