Alice Trail Bennett

Alice Trail Bennett, 77, died Wednesday, June 19th at her home in Carroll Lutheran Village where she had lived for the last seven years.
Born July 29, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Bertie Trail.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry G. Bennett. Surviving is her daughter Anne Waters and Larry English of Westminster, her daughter Kathy Bounds and son-in-law Mark Bounds of Columbia, South Carolina; granddaughters Alyson Gibson and her husband Dale of Manchester, April Ayers and her husband Bryson of Shreveport Louisiana, and grandson David Bounds of Aberdeen. She is also survived by great grandson; Zachary Gibson, great granddaughters Addison and Eleanor Ayers and her life-long best friend Phyllis Pickett.
Before moving to Carroll Lutheran Village, Alice was a long-time resident of Sykesville. She was a dedicated member of Oakland United Methodist Church and an active volunteer in the community. She could always be counted on to volunteer in the schools for her children, and help family and neighbors in need. She served for more than five years as a volunteer for Carroll Hospice. She was also a member of the local AARP Chapter having once served as the President.
While at Carroll Lutheran Village, she continued her legacy of service. Again, she always found time to help a friend that needed transportation, some support or just a smile. Her volunteer activities included assisting in the physical therapy clinic and working in the gift shop. She also stayed active in church with Brandenburg United Methodist Church serving in various leadership positions in the congregation.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday June 22, 2013 at the Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, Maryland with Pastor John Bragg of Brandenburg UMC and Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz, Carroll Lutheran Village Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Brandenburg United Methodist Church at 6050 Old Washington Road, Sykesville, MD 21784-7822.
Arrangements are by the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
