Albert Clarke Jackson 89, of Taneytown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023.
Albert is pre-deceased by his parents, Marguerite M. Jackson, and John H. Jackson; sister, Helen M. Liesman (William); and brothers, John H. (Sonny) Jackson (Hazel), and Robert E. Jackson (Aliette). Albert is also pre-deceased by his first wife, Evelyn H. Jackson.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Sadie J. Jackson; as well as his daughters, Karen M. Carky (Paul), Donna L. Jackson (Troy Myers); son, John J. Jackson (Jennifer); and grandson, Liam J. Jackson.
Albert grew up in SW Washington, DC, and served honorably in the US Navy at the Naval Air Station, Washington, DC. He received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, and a master’s degree in computer science at Johns Hopkins University. Albert was an electrical engineer and computer scientist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center for over 30 years.
Albert had a passion for fishing, reading, exercise, weightlifting, carpentry, and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. Albert also built his own fishing boat. He was part of a devoted family that celebrated holidays with loving family gatherings. Albert enjoyed many summers with family in Ocean City, Maryland, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Albert was a loving husband to his beloved wife Sadie for over 50 years and together they shared many adventures, including a US cross country trip to California as well as many scenic country drives.
Albert was a devout Catholic. He considered himself very fortunate to have met Sadie, and liked to tell people she was seven years, seven months and seven days younger than himself, and he considered that a sign from God that she was the one for him.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD 21787. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 30, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown. Internment with Military Honors will be Friday, March 31, 10 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Silver Spring, MD.
