Albert Pershing Granger,Sr., 94, of Westminster, MD died peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born September 27, 1918 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frederick and Ethel Sourwalt Granger. He was the husband of Cherie Gill Granger, his wife of 56 years.
Albert was a sales representative for more than 20 years with the Filbert Food Company in Baltimore. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, shooting pool, and working crossword puzzles. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Jeannie Shifflett and husband, George, of Taneytown; grandchildren, Sharon Kline and husband, Dale, of Taneytown, John Smith and wife, Lucy, of Hampstead, Sally Harmon of Gettysburg, PA, George Shifflett, Jr. and wife, Joy, of Littlestown, PA, and Ricky Smith of Manchester; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Smith and a brother, Frederick Granger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD with the Rev. David R. Bare, Carroll Hospice chaplain officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
