Agnes L. Conaway, 88, of Finksburg, died Saturday evening, February 12, 2011 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead.
Born May 28, 1922 in Sandyville, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Grace Ellen Slorp Harpel.
She worked for Shilling Brothers and Shriver’s Canning Factories and she retired in the late 1980’s after working in Housekeeping for Carroll Lutheran Village. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, feeding and watching birds and she was an avid fan of the Statler Brothers music and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She was a member of Carrollton Church of God and the Super Sixties of the Church of the Open Door.
Surviving her are son and daughter-in-law Paul H. and Brenda Conaway of Finksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Linda J. and James Rill of Westminster; grandchildren, Steven D. Rill of Hanover, PA, Brian D. Rill of Taneytown, Mark D. Rill of Westminster and Amy L. Conaway of Finksburg; 5 great-grandchildren: niece Patricia Stonesifer of Charlotte Hall and nephew Howard E. Harpel III of Finksburg.
She was the last of her immediate family, being predeceased by brother, Howard E. Harpel, Jr. and sisters, Eleanor Harpel and Gertrude Nash.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, February 16th from the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Pastors David L. Meador and James Moss officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton Church of God Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
