Anna Shorb Blessing, 92, formerly of Taneytown, Maryland died peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Brinton Woods Nursing Center in Sykesville. Born September 20, 1922 in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Rose Davis Grable. She was the wife of the late Bernard Shorb who died in 1979.
Anna was a seamstress at both the Union Bridge Clothing Company and H.L. Hartz and Sons Clothiers in Union Bridge. She enjoyed attending church services, sewing, cooking, and collecting angel figurines. She attended the Christian Revival Center in Reisterstown and was formerly a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Frederick.
Surviving are daughters, Bernus Buffington and Sandra McHenry, both of Emmitsburg; sons, Preston “Sonny” Shorb of Gettysburg, PA, and Rick Shorb and wife Barb of Union Bridge; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by son, James Boarts; sisters, Grace Fogle, Pauline Hubbard, and May Pryor; and brother, John Grable.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Ralph Green officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
